ABOUT THE VILLAGE

Brahmapuri is a small village in the Sarlahi region of Nepal, in the South of the country. Most of the village residents are dependent on agriculture. There is no irrigation system, so the farmers are mostly dependant on the Monsoon (rainy season) to grow their crops, so they cannot make a living off farming. They are low-paid because of the lack of subsidies, and various other things. They cannot afford for their children to go to higher education. Therefore the HDI (Human Development Index) and adult literacy rates are very low, to accompany this, pass rates are also low in school. The village also doesn't have access to good quality roads, infrastructure and healthcare.
